1st Kevin Murphy - 4.340kg
2nd Mark Trueman - 3.360kg
3rd Ian Whitson - 2.780kg

On Saturday 19th April Scottish Junior Internationalist Kevin Murphy (19) from Clydebank became the 9th angler to qualify for the big money Ayrstrike Final which will take place at Spring Water Fisheries, Near Ayr on Saturday 5th April. Kevin, drawn on permanent peg 96 on Broom Fisheries’ Queensbury pond, used a small ‘in line’ feeder and alternated hook baits to tempt 10 carp for 4.340kg and a comfortable win.

From early on in the match it became evident that the feeding fish were concentrated in the one area, and Mark Trueman took full advantage from peg 55, directly opposite Kevin, weighing 3.360kg for second place with Iain Whitson third with 2.780kg from peg 57.

Well done, Kev,

Makes up for the last qualifier on there. I thought you were a cert for hypothermia after it!

Has there been a qualifier fished, yet, in decent weather?

Are you Magiscroft boys using a new bait additive or are you just good! Apart from John Rae and Davie MacAuley, I can't think of another non-Magiscroft angler in the final so far (note the lack of my club, Central, participants  ).

Anyway, best of luck, Kev, and everyone else. Hope you all have a cracker of a final.
